24 Jul
Summary
- Woman charged with using eye drops in man's beverages.
- Video surveillance captured woman allegedly tampering with drinks.
- Woman faces $100,000 cash bail on multiple charges.

A Plover woman, Jessica A. Meis, is in custody on $100,000 cash bail, facing charges related to allegedly tampering with a man's beverages. The accusations include aggravated battery as a domestic abuse incident and two counts of placing foreign objects in edibles. Meis' initial appearance was scheduled for July 27, following a July 23 bond hearing where bail was set by Portage County Circuit Judge Louis Molepske Jr.
The investigation began when a Stevens Point man reported suspicions of being poisoned. He installed a hidden camera in his kitchen, capturing video evidence of Meis allegedly adding a substance, appearing to be from an eye drop container, into his drinks on July 18 and July 16. The man had experienced concerning symptoms like exhaustion and dizziness starting in May 2025.
Medical records showed the man suffered from low blood pressure episodes coinciding with Meis' stays at his residence. Following the video evidence, Meis admitted to placing eye drops in the man's drinks, though she initially offered alternative explanations. The potential dangers of ingesting the active ingredient in eye drops, Tetrahydrozoline, include lethargy and coma.
Meis stated she acted because she liked taking care of the man when he became ill. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 13 years in prison. The incident has drawn parallels to a previous case in Waukesha involving eye drops.
