25 Oct
Summary
- David Hall convicted for hit-and-run death of pedestrian Carla Tyson.
- Tyson, a pedestrian with cerebral palsy, was struck twice.
- Hall sentenced to 13 years for causing the fatal chain of events.

David Hall, 49, received a 13-year prison sentence for his role in the fatal hit-and-run death of Carla Tyson. The incident occurred on July 27, 2024, at an intersection in Milwaukee. Surveillance footage revealed Hall's truck striking Tyson with significant force, then speeding away. Hall later claimed he did not realize he had hit a person.
Approximately 30 seconds after Hall's collision, a Milwaukee Police squad car, responding to another emergency, struck Tyson again as she lay in the roadway. The officers in the squad car immediately stopped. At sentencing, Tyson's brother emphasized Hall's responsibility for setting the tragic events in motion.
Judge Laura Crivello stated Hall showed remorse only at sentencing and had a history of crime, including drug trafficking. She noted his prior convictions did not deter him from further offenses. Tyson's son has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Hall and the Milwaukee Police Department.
Court records indicate the civil case has a scheduling conference set for November 18. Hall was out on bond for a separate drug and gun case, which is scheduled for trial in December. He testified at his trial, expressing regret for not stopping to check.
