Manitoba Doctor Reprimanded for Patient Care Lapses

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba has issued a reprimand to Winnipeg doctor Dr. Nazmun Nahar Bhuiyan following her guilty pleas to five charges of professional misconduct and one charge of creating a false medical record. These charges stemmed from an investigation into patient care provided in 2021 and 2022.
Dr. Bhuiyan failed to perform physical examinations for patients concerned about potential STIs or experiencing leg pain. She also discussed a child's asthma symptoms in a public reception area and refused to see an adult patient without her mother present. Furthermore, she stopped prescribing necessary psychiatric medication to a patient diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
During the college's investigation, Dr. Bhuiyan provided false information about her services. As part of a joint recommendation, she will practice under supervision, limit her patient volume and scope of practice, and report weekly on her compliance. She must also pay $30,000 towards the investigation costs.
