Newly released 911 audio recordings from a fatal shooting in downtown Wilmington last month paint a vivid picture of the fear and chaos experienced by witnesses. The calls, received by the New Hanover County 911 Center, captured the immediate aftermath of an incident at Unhinged Bar on June 6, 2026.
One caller desperately reported an "active shooter" inside the bar, while others sobbed or yelled instructions to "evacuate." The shooting tragically resulted in the death of 23-year-old Emir Moore, who sustained a fatal gunshot wound at the scene. Law enforcement confirmed the situation as a homicide shortly after their arrival.
Following the incident, authorities identified Trayquan Maleak Hasty, aged 29, as a suspect. Hasty was arrested on June 11, 2026, and subsequently charged with first-degree murder and carrying a concealed gun. He appeared in court on the same day, was denied bond, and opted for a court-appointed attorney. A disposition hearing is scheduled for December 12, 2026.
