In Hardoi, a man identified as Anoop, aged 38, shot and killed his wife, Soni, inside the Pali police station on Monday morning. The tragic event unfolded despite the presence of police personnel. Soni, 30, had reportedly eloped with her alleged lover, Surjeet, five days before the incident.

Following a complaint lodged by Anoop, police located Soni and Surjeet on Sunday and brought them to the station. Anoop met his wife briefly that evening before returning home. Soni was scheduled for a medical examination on Monday. However, around 10:45 am, Anoop arrived at the station with a firearm and shot Soni at close range.

Soni was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Anoop was apprehended while attempting to flee. The Superintendent of Police suspended the investigating officer and a woman constable for negligence, initiating a departmental inquiry. The investigation is ongoing to determine how Anoop entered the station with a weapon.
