Wife and Lover Arrested for Staging Suicide Murder
15 Jul
Summary
- Woman and lover arrested for murder, staged as suicide.
- Postmortem revealed strangulation, not suicide.
- Deceased husband discovered their affair and filed a case.
Police in Etawah have arrested a woman and her alleged lover for the murder of her husband, Anand Rajput, whose death was initially presented as a suicide. Ashiki Devi (30) and Shivam (24) are accused of killing Rajput on Sunday night, July 12, and then staging the scene to look like he had hanged himself.
The murder plot unraveled after a specialized postmortem, conducted by a panel of doctors, revealed that Anand Rajput had died from strangulation, not suicide. The autopsy also indicated injury marks on his neck, contradicting the staged suicide narrative. Suspicion of foul play led to this thorough examination.
Investigations revealed that Anand Rajput had discovered the affair between his wife and Shivam in March. He had filed a case against Shivam, who was subsequently jailed but released on bail in June. Following his release, Shivam allegedly conspired with Ashiki Devi to murder Anand.
Authorities reported that the couple first incapacitated Anand by mixing sleeping pills in his milk. They then allegedly strangled him with a scarf and hung his body to simulate suicide. Police recovered the scarf, Anand's gold ring, and mobile phones allegedly used in the conspiracy. Both accused have been produced in court and sent to jail.
