The incident occurred on Wednesday evening after a severe altercation between the couple. The husband, identified as Shubham Diwakar, allegedly beat his wife, Mona, when she refused to provide him with money for alcohol.
Following the assault, Mona reportedly initiated a WhatsApp video call with Diwakar and ended her life while he was watching. Diwakar, upon returning home, found the door locked from the inside. Police were alerted by neighbours and had to break down the door, but it was too late. Mona's friends later confronted and assaulted Diwakar, accusing him of destroying evidence.
The couple had a love marriage seven years ago and have two children. Mona worked as a 'welcome girl' to support the family, while Diwakar was employed at a private company. Neighbours have corroborated claims of the husband's frequent abusive behavior when intoxicated. Mona's family has not yet filed a formal complaint.
