A domestic altercation on May 18 led to the death of Rukhsana Shaikh, 42, who succumbed to severe internal abdominal injuries. The incident began after an argument with her husband, Shahabuddin Shaikh. Initially, Rukhsana was taken to a hospital where doctors discharged her, finding no significant injuries.
However, her condition deteriorated later that day. Admitted to Krupa Hospital and subsequently Life Care Hospital, further medical examinations, including a sonography and CT scan, revealed critical internal complications and infection. She was then transferred to Pinnacle Hospital and later to Cooper Hospital.
Rukhsana underwent emergency surgery on the night of May 19 but tragically passed away during treatment. Her post-mortem report definitively stated that her death was caused by severe abdominal injury from a physical assault, leading to intestinal damage and a fatal infection.
Based on these findings, Versova police have charged Shahabuddin Shaikh under section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relating to culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Authorities are actively seeking the accused for his arrest.
