The plan was to make the murder look like a burglary gone wrong so Monica and Baker could be together.
Investigators became suspicious when Monica Sementilli quickly pursued a $1.6 million life insurance payout after Fabio's death. Monica and Baker were arrested in June 2017. In April 2025, a jury found Monica guilty of murder with special circumstances, including financial gain and lying in wait.
