In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, a murder investigation has led to the arrest of a wife and her parents for allegedly staging a suicide. Jitendra Yadav was found dead on January 26, but post-mortem and forensic evidence revealed he was murdered.
The victim's wife, Jyoti, reportedly confessed to strangling Jitendra after an argument concerning his gambling losses amounting to Rs 20,000. This incident occurred just months after their marriage on November 25.
Jyoti and her family are accused of attempting to conceal the murder by hanging Jitendra's body to make it appear as a suicide. The investigation gained momentum with forensic findings and location data placing her parents near the scene.
Jyoti had allegedly pressured Jitendra to sell ancestral property to fund her own house and car. When he refused, she and her family allegedly threatened him with dowry harassment charges.
Jyoti, her father, and mother were arrested on January 31 and remanded to judicial custody. The case was initially treated as a suicide but was reclassified as murder following substantial evidence.
