Hit-and-Run Hoax Exposed: Woman Charged in Husband's Death
5 Feb
Summary
- Wife allegedly conspired with boyfriend to murder husband.
- Forensic evidence contradicted the staged hit-and-run narrative.
- Victim was strangled after an initial assault by multiple attackers.

In Sriganganagar, a woman identified as Anju has been arrested alongside her alleged boyfriend, Sanjay, and two associates for the murder of her husband, Ashish Kumar. The initial report on January 31, 2026, claimed Ashish died in a hit-and-run incident while walking with Anju on January 30. However, forensic analysis and on-site investigation revealed the location did not support a vehicular impact, raising immediate suspicion.
Anju's inconsistent statements and claims of robbery further undermined the accident narrative. The post-mortem report indicated multiple injuries and signs of strangulation, prompting police to reclassify the death as a homicide. Investigators believe Anju, unhappy in her three-month marriage, planned Ashish's murder with Sanjay, whom she intended to marry.
Authorities allege Anju accompanied Ashish on his usual post-dinner walk on January 30, 2026, leading him to a secluded spot. There, Sanjay, Rohit, and Badal, allegedly acting on Anju's signal, attacked Ashish with sticks. When he survived the initial blows, they strangled him. Anju then reportedly alerted Ashish's family, falsely reporting a fatal road accident.
