A wedding celebration in Pataudi was marred by violence when an argument over faulty LED lights resulted in the death of a 23-year-old electrician. Barkat, who was responsible for the venue's lighting arrangements, was fatally shot on Thursday night.
The incident began when the groom, identified as Amandeep, confronted Barkat about a lighting imperfection. The ensuing argument escalated rapidly, leading to a firearm being discharged. While the initial shot reportedly missed Barkat, a subsequent bullet, allegedly fired by an associate of the groom named Harsh, struck Barkat from behind as he attempted to flee.
Harsh, aged 21, has been taken into custody. He claimed during questioning that he accidentally fired a bullet from a licensed weapon belonging to his uncle, which was kept on a table. The weapon was reportedly handed to Harsh for a photograph during the ceremony.
Barkat, a resident of Mathura, was a father of three and worked as an electrician, often visiting Gurgaon during the wedding season. His family has expressed shock and devastation, demanding justice for his 'merciless' killing. A case has been registered under sections of murder, criminal intimidation, and the Arms Act.
