Police Investigate Viral Video of Dog Abuse

A disturbing video circulating on Instagram appears to show a Connecticut man, Mike Gerchy, physically assaulting a pit bull in his home. The footage captures the man body-slamming the canine and then kicking it while shouting. A woman present in the house is heard pleading with him to cease the actions.

Gerchy has since claimed on Facebook that the video was edited by his ex to omit crucial context. He stated that the pit bull, named Stitch, has a pattern of aggressive behavior, having previously attacked another dog, Thor, resulting in significant veterinary expenses. Gerchy asserted that his actions were a disciplinary response to Stitch attacking Thor and nearly biting his ex's daughter.

The Glastonbury Police Department confirmed to our news outlet that they have launched an investigation into the incident depicted in the video. Efforts to reach Gerchy for further comment have not yet yielded a response. It remains unclear if the dog sustained any injuries as a result of the alleged abuse.
