Filmmaker Bhatt Denied Bail in ₹30 Cr Fraud Case
1 Feb
Summary
- Court denied bail to Vikram Bhatt and wife in fraud case.
- Allegations involve ₹30 crore in fraudulent transactions.
- Investigation is ongoing, with concerns of witness influence.

The Rajasthan High Court on Saturday dismissed the bail applications of filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari Bhatt. The ruling, delivered by Justice Vinod Kumar Bharwani, stated that granting bail was not appropriate given the ongoing investigation into an alleged fraud case involving nearly ₹30 crore.
The prosecution opposed the bail requests, citing the need for further interrogation and the risk of influencing witnesses if the accused were released. The case involves allegations of the couple creating fraudulent invoices under aliases and diverting film production funds into their personal accounts.
Bhatt had previously sought to quash the FIR, arguing the matter was civil, but the high court deemed it criminal due to alleged misappropriation. An FIR was filed in Udaipur on November 17, 2025, after Dr. Ajay Murdia accused the Bhatts and others of cheating and breach of trust regarding film project funds.
