Vigil Honors Victim at Site of His Final Moments

A moving vigil was held at a Winn-Dixie in Orange Park, transforming a location associated with tragedy into a space for remembrance. Former coworkers of Billy Foster gathered with balloons and candles to celebrate his life and share cherished memories. The vigil took place at the same Winn-Dixie where Foster sought refuge after being fatally stabbed days earlier.

Those who attended spoke of Foster's defining qualities: his joy, kindness, and dedication to his work. Many shared how he impacted their lives, even those who knew him for a short time. The Clay County Sheriff's Office reported that Foster was killed on February 2 in a stabbing incident at the Cypress Point Apartments in Middleburg. Charles Franklin Jones Jr. has been arrested and charged with Foster's murder.

Investigators are working to determine the events leading up to the fatal fight, which authorities believe was planned. Foster was stabbed multiple times, managed to drive to the Winn-Dixie, and was later taken to the hospital, where he died. Jones is currently held without bond in the Clay County Jail and faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder.
