Steve Wright, 67, has appeared in court accused of the murder of Victoria Hall, a 17-year-old who disappeared over 26 years ago. Victoria was last seen on September 19, 1999, after a night out at a nightclub in Felixstowe, Suffolk. Her body was discovered by a dog walker five days later in a ditch approximately 25 miles away near Stowmarket.
Wright, formerly of Ipswich, appeared remotely from HMP Long Lartin and denies charges of murder and kidnap. He also faces charges for the attempted kidnap of a 22-year-old woman the night before Victoria's disappearance. The trial is expected to last one month and is scheduled to begin on February 2, 2026.
Legal arguments ahead of the trial were heard today. Victoria had been walking home with a friend in the early hours of the morning, separating from them around 2:30 AM, just 300 yards from her home, before she went missing.
