Vickie Lynn Williams, 53, has been found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Darryl, 83, and Sharon Getman, 80. The couple was discovered fatally stabbed in their retirement community residence in Mount Dora, Florida, on December 31, 2022.
Prosecutors stated that Williams fled the crime scene in the Getmans' green Kia Soul after the murders, also taking jewelry and paintings. She was apprehended in Savannah, Georgia, on January 2, 2023.
During her trial, Williams' defense argued she was experiencing psychosis. Despite this, a jury convicted her after just 30 minutes of deliberation. The State Attorney's office confirmed they will pursue the death penalty for Williams.
