Summary
- YouTuber accused of killing couple claims self-defense after prior beating.
- The fatal shooting was captured on the victim's own livestream.
- Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for the accused.

Manuel "Manny" Ruiz, a YouTuber, is seeking $100,000 bail following his indictment on two counts of murder with a deadly weapon. He is accused of shooting Rodney and Tanisha Finley near the Bellagio Fountains on June 8, 2025. Ruiz's defense claims he acted in self-defense after a prior beating by the Finleys in October 2023. The fatal encounter was captured on Rodney Finley's livestream.
Prosecutors have indicated they will seek the death penalty if Ruiz is convicted. Ruiz surrendered to police shortly after the incident, proclaiming his innocence and stating he panicked. His attorney argues that Ruiz, a concealed weapon permitholder, perceived a threat when Rodney Finley appeared to reach for a gun, leading him to fire. Ruiz also stated he shot Tanisha Finley when he believed she was holding a gun.
Ruiz's defense also highlights his history of post-traumatic stress disorder and a past stabbing attack. His trial was initially scheduled for August, though murder trials in Clark County often face significant delays. A hearing for bail arguments was scheduled for Thursday, March 19. Nevada has not carried out an execution since 2006, with many murder cases concluding in plea deals.
