Nearly $300,000 Stolen in Vegas Casino Register Fraud
9 Apr
Summary
- Three employees allegedly stole nearly $300,000 over time.
- The scheme involved taking cash from registers and hiding theft.
- Legal proceedings are underway with preliminary hearings scheduled.

Three casino workers are accused of a sophisticated scheme that resulted in the theft of approximately $300,000 from Binion's Gambling Hall & Hotel. Christina Carbonell, Siraprapha Rattana, and Rommel Soriano allegedly perpetrated the fraud between 2022 and April of last year.
The investigation was triggered by an internal audit of the Binion's Café. An employee's call to police last year detailed the alleged scheme where money was taken directly from restaurant cash registers. Security detained Rattana, who reportedly admitted that she and her two co-accused stole about $200 daily.
Surveillance footage reportedly showed Rattana pocketing cash from registers. Detectives believe Carbonell and Rattana, working as cashiers, intentionally applied unapproved discounts or reduced transaction totals, pocketing the difference. Soriano, a waiter, admitted to receiving the stolen money and was seen on video aiding in concealing the thefts.
Financial records for the trio revealed significant monetary activity, including large cash withdrawals at local casinos. Carbonell and Rattana face theft charges for amounts exceeding $100,000, while Soriano is charged with theft between $5,000 and $25,000. All have pleaded not guilty, with preliminary hearings scheduled for April 20, April 22, and May 21.
