An online influencer, Lily Iaschelcic, has been ordered to pay £957 after admitting to wrongly presenting herself as a qualified osteopath. Iaschelcic, who boasts over 600,000 followers, continued to operate a website for her clinic, Osteopathic Health, which listed her as a practitioner. Her registration with the General Osteopathic Council had concluded in January 2022, following her departure from the UK to study medicine in Georgia.
During a hearing at City of London Magistrates' Court, it was revealed that concerns were raised in 2024 about her website, which also featured an image suggesting she was performing osteopathic treatment. Although Iaschelcic claimed she 'completely forgot' about the website after moving abroad, the court stressed the importance of punishing those who misrepresent professional qualifications to safeguard the public. Her admission to the offense related to the website was accepted, while a charge concerning an Instagram post was withdrawn.
Iaschelcic, who graduated with a master's in osteopathic medicine and nutrition in 2021, expressed pride in her osteopathic identity. The magistrates acknowledged her passion for medicine and her admission of an oversight. She was fined £623, with an additional £249 surcharge and £85 in prosecution costs for the unqualified claims.
