According to the young woman renting the room, the deceased had expressed deep distress and intentions of self-harm. Despite her attempts to console him, he allegedly pushed her out and locked the door from within. Neighbors, alerted by the woman's cries, forced entry into the room, but the young man had already died by suicide.
The victim's family, upon learning of the tragedy, reached Varanasi. They corroborated the woman's account in a written complaint to the police. Authorities have sent the body for a postmortem examination and are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
