Summary
- Pigeon cages, rats, and vintage guns found in Varanasi house.
- Raid conducted due to a 20-km no-bird zone for an air show.
- Action taken to ensure aircraft safety during the air show.
Ahead of the Indian Air Force's three-day air show in Varanasi, authorities conducted a raid on a multi-storey house in the Jergular locality on Wednesday evening. The operation was prompted by the establishment of a 20-km no-bird zone around Namo Ghat to ensure aircraft safety.
During the search of the house belonging to Athar Javed, also known as Raini, officials discovered a significant number of pigeon cages, substantial amounts of garbage, bird droppings, approximately 100 rats, and two vintage guns. The house was found to be housing numerous pigeons, with iron-mesh enclosures removed from its floors by a joint team.
A case has been registered against Raini at the Adampur police station following a complaint by the district veterinary officer. The raid, involving municipal corporation and police personnel, focused on preventing bird-hit incidents during the air show, which commenced on Thursday.
