Varanasi Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal led a ceremony on Wednesday to honor police martyrs on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day. The event, held at Reserve Police Lines, paid floral tributes to officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service.
"The glorious tradition of the police force has always been enriched with sacrifice, discipline and devotion to duty," Agarwal stated. He emphasized that the courage and patriotism of these fallen personnel would continue to inspire the force.
Officers and personnel observed a two-minute silence to remember the martyrs and express condolences to their families. This commemoration also brought to mind the incident on October 21, 1959, when a Central Reserve Police Force patrol was ambushed by Chinese troops near the Hot Springs in Ladakh. In that attack, ten brave personnel were martyred, with seven others sustaining injuries.
