- Assault on tourist in Chinatown was unprovoked; victim was pushed into traffic.

A man was hospitalized late Sunday night after sustaining multiple stab wounds to the neck in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. The attack, which occurred near Main and East Hastings streets, is not considered random, as the victim and suspect were known to each other.
The suspect is described as a white man, 30-40 years old, approximately 6 feet tall with a stocky build and bald head, wearing an orange shirt and tan pants. He is still at large.
In a separate incident, a female tourist was unprovokedly pushed into traffic by a stranger in Vancouver's Chinatown neighborhood on Friday afternoon. The tourist was unharmed, and the suspect fled the scene.
The suspect in the Chinatown assault is described as an Indigenous woman, 40-50 years old, approximately 5'8" tall, with a medium build and lip piercings, wearing a black toque, jacket, pants, and combat boots.
Both assaults are currently under investigation. The Vancouver Police Department is appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage from the vicinity of both incidents to come forward.
