A retired trader, aged 82, from Vadodara has reported losing Rs 1.12 crore to a sophisticated cyber fraud operation. The fraudsters initially approached the victim several months ago, enticing him with the prospect of easy earnings through simple online tasks. These initial promised returns were seemingly met, convincing the elderly man of the scheme's legitimacy.
Building on this false trust, the accused persuaded the victim to transfer significant amounts of money into multiple designated bank accounts. The promise of even higher profits fueled these transfers, which ultimately totalled over Rs 1.12 crore. This extensive loss occurred over a period of months, as the victim diligently followed the scammers' instructions.
Upon realizing that the promised returns were never going to materialize, the victim understood he had fallen victim to a elaborate scam. He has since filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime police station, initiating an investigation into the incident to apprehend the perpetrators and potentially recover the lost funds.
