An inquiry has been launched into allegations of police brutality in Vadodara after a 30-year-old resident claimed he was severely beaten at the Sayajigunj traffic branch. The man, Vijendra Singh, stated he was taken to the office after being stopped for traffic violations and subsequently assaulted, including kicks to his private parts.
Singh recounted that the incident began when police stopped his motorcycle for lacking a registration plate and having a modified silencer. He alleged a dispute over handing over his keys escalated into physical abuse near the Dandiabazaar Crossroads before he was transported to the station. He sought medical attention at SSG Hospital.
Police Commissioner Narsimha Komar confirmed that both the complainant and the officers involved have made allegations. He noted the motorcycle had registration plate and modified silencer issues, and the rider was not wearing a helmet. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) will conduct the investigation.
