A notorious thief, Ahmed Pathan, who is allegedly involved in numerous thefts, has been apprehended by the Vadodara Detection of Crime Branch (DCB). The arrest took place on Wednesday in the Harni area following a tip-off. Police recovered a laptop and charger from Pathan, who could not provide any purchase documentation.
During interrogation, Pathan admitted to his modus operandi: targeting vehicles parked outside party plots. He revealed that he and his accomplice, Salim Sheikh, would specifically look for opportunities at wedding functions and other events. Families often leave valuables unattended in their cars, making them easy targets for the thieves who would break windows to steal.
Investigators have linked Pathan to over 25 theft cases registered at police stations in Vadodara, Valsad, and Navsari. His arrest marks a significant step in curbing a series of vehicle break-ins plaguing the city.
