In Vadodara, a 29-year-old man named Aarif Dewan was apprehended by the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) for a series of vehicle thefts. Motivated by significant gambling debts, Dewan stole six two-wheelers over several months from various city locations. His motive was to pawn the stolen vehicles, ranging in value from Rs 10,000 to Rs 32,000, to clear his financial obligations.
Dewan's arrest occurred when police spotted him riding a scooter without a license plate in Fatehgunj. When questioned, he failed to provide vehicle documents, leading to further investigation. He confessed to stealing scooters from areas including Gorwa, Fatehgunj, Sayajigunj, Navayard, and Harni, primarily targeting newer models in residential areas.
Investigations revealed that Dewan employed duplicate keys to facilitate his thefts. This arrest marks another chapter in his criminal history, as he has nine prior offenses registered against him, encompassing five for vehicle theft and four for gambling. The police continue their investigation into his activities.
