In Vadodara, a sessions court has handed down a 20-year prison sentence to Sadiq Rathod for the molestation of a three-year-old girl. Rathod, who operated an auto-rickshaw service for schoolchildren, was found guilty of abusing the child he regularly transported.
The horrific ordeal came to light when the young victim confided in her mother, who promptly filed a complaint with the JP Road police under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. An investigation was initiated immediately, and a chargesheet was filed within 40 days of the initial complaint.
During the trial, approximately 16 witnesses were examined. The court meticulously reviewed the evidence, including the child's medical report and other pertinent documents. Based on the overwhelming evidence presented, Rathod was convicted and sentenced to two decades of imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of Rs 50,000.
