The incident occurred on a Saturday afternoon behind a Dollar General store on Kings Highway. According to authorities, Farley had arranged to meet David Powell, 20, whom she knew, following a prior disagreement.
During this meeting, Powell allegedly shot Farley multiple times. Detectives utilized surveillance cameras in the vicinity to identify Powell. This crucial evidence, combined with diligent police work, led to Powell's arrest on Interstate 20 roughly 12 hours after the fatal shooting. Powell has been formally charged with felony murder.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office stated that the investigation is ongoing, and a specific motive has not yet been released. Powell appeared in court and was informed of the charges against him. He is currently being held without bond pending a future hearing.
