UK Sanctions Cambodia Scam Compound Operators

Britain has taken significant action against organized online fraud by sanctioning the operators of Cambodia's largest known scam compound and a cryptocurrency marketplace facilitating illicit activities. The compound, identified as '#8 Park', has the capacity to hold up to 20,000 trafficked workers who are forced into committing online fraud.

The targeted crypto marketplace, Xinbi, is noted for providing essential tools and services for these fraud networks, including the sale of stolen personal data and satellite communication equipment. These measures are part of Britain's ongoing effort to dismantle sophisticated scam operations prevalent in Southeast Asia.

In conjunction with these sanctions, several London properties connected to the network, including a 9 million pound penthouse, have been frozen. Foreign office minister Stephen Doughty stated that these actions send a clear message against enabling British victims and tolerating human rights abuses within these scam centers. This action follows similar coordinated efforts with the United States last year, which led to the closure of numerous scam operations.
