A former resident doctor in central England, Nathaniel Spencer, has been charged with multiple serious sexual offenses allegedly committed against 38 patients under his care. Prosecutors announced the charges on Friday, detailing accusations that include assault by penetration and sexual assault against a child younger than 13.
These charges follow an extensive police investigation into alleged sexual offenses occurring at two state-run hospitals located in Stoke-on-Trent and Dudley. The incidents reportedly took place over a four-year period, from 2017 to 2021. Prosecutors stated that a thorough review of the evidence supports bringing the case to trial.
Spencer, 38, faces a total of 15 counts of sexual assault and 17 counts of assault by penetration, alongside one attempted assault by penetration charge. He is also accused of a dozen additional offenses involving a child under 13. His first court appearance is scheduled for January 20.
