In a significant judicial ruling, a district and sessions court in Lalsot, Dausa district, has sentenced two men to death for the brutal gang rape and murder of a woman that occurred on April 23, 2022. The court unequivocally stated that the crime was of the 'rarest of rare' nature, thus justifying capital punishment.
The convicts, Kalu Ram Meena and Sanju Meena, were found guilty of multiple charges including kidnapping, gang rape, and murder. Additional District Judge Ritu Chaudhary described the crime as extremely cruel and barbaric, noting the victim's helplessness. The court emphasized that no lesser punishment would suffice for such inhuman conduct.
Prosecutors detailed that the accused abducted the woman, gang-raped her inside a car, and then strangled her with a scarf when she resisted. Her body was subsequently transported for hours before being discarded in a deserted well. The woman's uncle had filed a missing persons report the day after her disappearance, and her body was recovered two days later.
To secure the conviction, the prosecution presented 149 pieces of documentary evidence and 45 witnesses, arguing that the accused's actions were beyond compare in their cruelty. In addition to the death penalty under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, both convicts received life imprisonment and fines for other offenses.
