The victim reported that in 2023, he initiated contact with what he believed was a woman on social media. He was eventually persuaded to share intimate images, only to be subsequently blackmailed by those operating the fraudulent account.

Before reporting the incident to Nottinghamshire Police, the victim was coerced into sending hundreds of pounds.
