Two men, Darius Demarcus Nobles, 28, and Darion Lequan Brown, 27, have been arrested and charged in the 2019 murder of Fort Hood soldier Gregory Wedel-Morales. Wedel-Morales was reported missing on August 23, 2019, and his skeletal remains were found in a Texas field on June 21, 2020, nearly a year later. Authorities initially suspected foul play, and an autopsy confirmed he died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Nobles was arrested on February 23 in Harris County, Texas, while Brown was served his arrest warrant on December 30, being held on unrelated charges. Murder charges were filed against both men by the Bell County District Attorney's Office on December 30. Wedel-Morales, originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was 23 years old and processing out of the Army when he disappeared. The motive for his murder and his connection to the suspects remain unclear as of February 25, 2026.
