Summary
- Liz Golyar convicted of murdering Cari Farver and impersonating her online for years
- Golyar stalked and terrorized Farver's ex-boyfriend Dave Kroupa and his family
- Kroupa struggled with paranoia and mental breakdown due to relentless harassment

In 2017, Liz Golyar was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison for killing Cari Farver, a woman Kroupa had briefly dated. After Farver's sudden disappearance in 2012, Golyar began impersonating her online, sending thousands of threatening messages to Kroupa and his family.
For years, police believed Farver was the one stalking Kroupa and Golyar, until investigators uncovered the shocking truth in 2015 - Golyar had murdered Farver and was behind the entire elaborate scheme. Golyar had relentlessly harassed Kroupa and his family, even burning down her own house and framing Farver, in an effort to cover up the crime.
The ordeal left Kroupa in a state of paranoia and mental breakdown as he struggled to cope with the constant harassment. Investigators eventually arrested Golyar, and in 2017 she was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. The case is now the subject of a Netflix documentary that premiered in 2024.
