The Ghatkopar police took him into custody following a complaint from a 16-year-old girl alleging stalking, harassment, and assault. Authorities have initiated a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The minor reportedly detailed in her complaint that Chandel persistently contacted her despite her objections and physically assaulted her on July 5. Police booked him under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to stalking and voluntarily causing hurt. Chandel was apprehended at his Dahisar residence and subsequently remanded to police custody by a special POCSO court.
