Turpin Siblings: From Horrors to Hope
18 Feb
Summary
- Siblings escaped parental abuse after one called the police.
- Some siblings faced further abuse in the foster care system.
- A lawsuit led to a $13.5 million settlement for the children.

The horrific abuse of the Turpin siblings by their parents, David and Louise Turpin, came to light when Jordan Turpin, then 17, escaped and alerted authorities in January 2018. The children suffered starvation, physical abuse, and were often chained as punishment.
Following their parents' arrest and life sentences, six siblings entered foster care. However, their ordeal continued, with some experiencing further abuse. This led three siblings, Julissa, Jolinda, and James, to share their experiences in a televised special.
Three siblings filed lawsuits against Riverside County and ChildNet Youth and Family Services for abuse and neglect in foster care. This resulted in a $13.5 million settlement. The perpetrators in foster care, Marcelino Olguin and his family, received prison sentences and probation.
Now, Jordan and her siblings are on paths to healing and advocacy. Jordan has become a public speaker and uses social media to support her family. They aim to use their experiences to protect other children.
