- Foster parents who housed six Turpin children admitted to child endangerment.
- Parents David and Louise Turpin received life sentences in 2019.

Eight years after their harrowing rescue, three siblings from the Turpin family are sharing their experiences for the first time. The family's story of abuse first gained national attention in 2018 when one sibling escaped their Perris, California home. Authorities discovered 13 children held captive and subjected to severe abuse by their parents, David and Louise Turpin.
In a new interview with Diane Sawyer, Julissa, James, and Jolinda Turpin detail further trauma, including unsettling encounters in foster care. Julissa, now 19, recounted her foster father telling her she was "sexy" when she was 11, causing her significant discomfort. The foster parents who housed six of the Turpin children in 2024 pleaded guilty to child endangerment and false imprisonment.
David and Louise Turpin pleaded guilty in 2019 to 14 felony counts, including torture and child cruelty. They were sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 22 years. Louise is serving her sentence at the Central California Women's Facility, and David is at the California State Prison in Corcoran.
