10 Mar
Summary
- Valdo Calocane violently assaulted two colleagues weeks before triple murder.
- Police failed to interview witnesses after the May 5th assault.
- An inquiry is examining agency actions leading up to the June 13th attacks.

A public inquiry has heard that triple killer Valdo Calocane violently assaulted two colleagues weeks before he went on to kill three people in Nottingham. On May 5, 2023, Calocane attacked a married couple at a warehouse in Kegworth, Leicestershire, where he was employed by an agency.
The husband was punched twice after asking Calocane to wait, and later Calocane assaulted his wife, kicking her knee and pushing her forcefully. Colleagues intervened, with one placing themselves between Calocane and the victims.
Leicestershire Police arrived approximately 20 minutes after the incident, by which time Calocane had left the site. Despite reports of Calocane's unstable mental state, police had not visited the victims or witnesses by June 2, nearly a month later.
Three days before Calocane's fatal attacks on June 13, 2023, the victims and a witness received an email from Leicestershire Police asking them to get in touch. The inquiry continues to examine the actions of agencies involved with Calocane.
