On October 7th, 2025, three labourers were arrested by the Sakinaka police in Mumbai for the kidnapping and murder of their colleague, Eshan Ali Ansari (45). The accused, identified as Wajid Ali, Nisar Ali, and Haqeeqat Ali, were Ansari's roommates and co-workers.
According to the police, the trio had been losing work opportunities due to Ansari, who was getting the maximum work from shops and godowns. Enraged by this, the trio planned Ansari's murder. On the day of the incident, they lured Ansari to Bhiwandi on the pretext of new work, where they allegedly killed him and dumped his body in Chembur.
Ansari's brother, Munwar Ali, had filed a missing person complaint after not seeing his brother for two days. The investigation led the police to the trio, who confessed to the crime during interrogation. The police have booked the accused under sections for kidnapping, murder, and robbery, as they also stole the money Ansari had saved for his daughter's engagement in Uttar Pradesh.
The tragic incident highlights the intense competition and rivalry among the city's labourers, who often depend on daily work opportunities to make ends meet. The Sakinaka police have vowed to take strict action against the accused to ensure justice for the victim's family.
