Trichy RPF Rescues 130 Children, Recovers ₹4.6 Lakh Stolen Goods

Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel in the Trichy division have demonstrated remarkable effectiveness in ensuring passenger safety and security during the first half of the year. Between January 1 and June 25, 2026, they successfully rescued 130 children who were in vulnerable circumstances at various railway stations and onboard trains.

These rescued children were promptly handed over to the appropriate authorities. Through strong coordination with agencies like Childline, Child Welfare Committees, Government Railway Police, and local police, the RPF facilitated their reunion with parents or guardians.

Beyond child welfare, the RPF's efforts extended to recovering stolen property. In eight reported theft cases, valuables worth ₹4.6 lakh were recovered and returned to their rightful owners. Furthermore, as part of Operation Amanat, unattended luggage and valuables were returned to passengers in 139 separate incidents.

The division also focused on combating illegal activities, apprehending 4,696 offenders for offenses including touting, trespassing, and public nuisance, imposing penalties totaling ₹13.1 lakh. In anti-touting operations, 20 touts were arrested, with 264 railway tickets valued at ₹3.3 lakh seized. In total, RPF organized 2,315 awareness programs across the division.
