Summary
- 35-year-old Ramesh killed in hit-and-run incident
- Struck by speeding black Scorpio SUV while crossing road
- Eyewitnesses say police let accused driver flee despite initial apprehension

On October 18, 2025, a tragic hit-and-run incident occurred in Gurgaon, India, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old man named Ramesh. Ramesh, who was originally from Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, was employed at a nearby sweets shop.
The accident took place around 10 PM when Ramesh was crossing the road near Sector 22. Eyewitnesses reported that a speeding black Scorpio SUV struck Ramesh, causing him to be flung several meters away. The impact was so severe that Ramesh sustained fatal head injuries, and he died on the spot.
Ramesh's colleague, Rakesh, stated that he had told Ramesh he was heading home, and Ramesh had asked him to go ahead. Minutes later, someone informed Rakesh that Ramesh had been hit. Several eyewitnesses accused the police of allowing the accused driver to flee despite initially being apprehended by bystanders.
"People caught the driver. But the police team that arrived first let him go. We don't understand why. A family lost their son on Diwali due to the negligent and rash driving of the Scorpio driver. He was driving at around 100 km/hr. After hitting Ramesh, he rammed into a divider," said Rakesh, while other bystanders voiced the same concerns.
The Mujesar police station has registered a case under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the BNS. The police have stated that they will soon arrest the accused, as they have identified the car number.
