- Live traps likely containing cats were stolen.
- Suspects face exposure to dangerous toxins and diseases.

Police are investigating a break-in that occurred overnight on July 4 at a Redford Township home at the center of an animal cruelty investigation. The residence, located in the 20000 block of Gaylord, was secured late last month due to hazardous conditions and the discovery of dozens of feral cats. An Imminent Danger Order is in effect for the home, which is filled with feces, urine, and other toxins.
Authorities removed five live traps during the burglary, with police believing these traps contained cats. This theft is expected to slow the ongoing rescue efforts. Suspects who entered the home face significant health risks, including exposure to airborne concerns and diseases from standing debris and animal contact.
The investigation into animal hoarding began on June 24. Over 29 cats have been removed from the property. The homeowner has been cited for exceeding the allowed animal limit, and animal cruelty charges are being reviewed. The township has since boarded up the home to prevent further unauthorized entry.
