The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has increased the reward to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest of the individual responsible for the death of Chyler Paton. Paton, who had just graduated from Culver City High School, was fatally shot outside a pool party in Torrance on June 18, 2025.
According to the homeowner, Paton was in the driveway picking up his brother when a white SUV appeared, and gunfire ensued. While investigators had previously arrested a person of interest, a case filing was not secured. Detectives are appealing to the public for additional witnesses who might assist their investigation.
Supervisor Janice Hahn emphasized the need to hold the perpetrator accountable for robbing Paton of his future and expressed hope that the increased reward will help bring closure to his grieving family. The Torrance Police Department is handling the case, with reference number 250021528.
