Jamie Doyle, 40, has been indicted by an Ocean County grand jury on charges including aggravated manslaughter and vehicular manslaughter. These charges stem from a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on January 23rd. The incident involved Doyle's Nissan Maxima and a Chevrolet Trax operated by Ronald Bucher, 76.
At the scene, authorities observed significant damage to both vehicles. Bucher, the driver of the Chevrolet, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced deceased after life-saving measures failed. Doyle exhibited erratic behavior and was treated for injuries, including a broken femur.
Investigation revealed Doyle was traveling westbound on Route 37 at an estimated 106 mph, significantly exceeding the 50 mph speed limit. His vehicle collided head-on with the Chevrolet, which was traveling southbound on Romana Lane and had the right of way. Witnesses reported Doyle's vehicle had been operating erratically and disregarding traffic signals prior to the collision.
Further analysis of Doyle's blood, obtained via a warrant, detected the presence of phencyclidine (PCP) and methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA). Doyle, who was also indicted for driving on a suspended license, has been detained in the Ocean County Jail since January 30th, following his hospital release.
