Authorities have arrested the mother and stepfather of a one-and-a-half-year-old boy who died on May 29, 2026, under suspicious circumstances. Preliminary autopsy results suggest the child's death was not accidental and was caused by repeated physical assault. Police sources indicated that approximately 50 injuries were found on the toddler's body.
The tragic incident came to light after the child was admitted to the hospital, reportedly having collapsed at home while eating. The case is being investigated under the leadership of Nedumangad DSP.
Kerala minister Bindhu Krishna condemned the incident, calling it a crime against the state and reaffirming the government's policy of zero tolerance towards child abuse. The minister stated that further studies will be conducted to enhance child protection measures.
