Mom Charged After Kids Eat THC Gummies, Hospitalized

A Tennessee mother is facing serious charges after her two children, both under the age of 8, were hospitalized upon consuming her THC hemp gummies. Candice Hickson has been charged with child neglect and endangerment. The incident led to the children being placed in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children's Services following their mother’s failure to pass a drug test for methamphetamine.
Hickson reportedly called 911 last week when she found her children unresponsive at their Milan, Tennessee residence, stating they had accessed the gummies while she was in the bathroom. Emergency services responded, and the children were transported to Le Bonheur Hospital in Memphis, where they were released within 48 hours.
While THC hemp gummies are legal for adults 21 and over in Tennessee, District Attorney General Frederick Agee emphasized this case as a critical reminder for parents to secure all substances, especially potent ones, away from children. Hickson is scheduled to appear in Gibson County General Sessions court on December 16th.
