31 Oct, 2025
Summary
- Suspect Michael Arredondo arrested in Mexico for 2017 murder of Evin Paulos
- Tip came from a stranger in Mexico who left message on victim's GoFundMe page
- Arredondo extradited to the U.S. and confessed to the killing

A remarkable development has occurred in an 8-year-old cold case murder investigation. In 2017, 25-year-old Evin Paulos was tragically killed after being allegedly stabbed 30 times by his friend, Michael Arredondo, during an argument in a car. Arredondo, now 34, fled the scene and disappeared, evading justice for nearly a decade.
However, the case was recently revived thanks to an unlikely source – a Good Samaritan in Mexico. According to the Phoenix Police Department, the individual left a message on a GoFundMe page set up by Paulos' family, providing information on Arredondo's whereabouts. Authorities were able to track down the suspect and arrest him in Mexico on September 25th.
Arredondo was then extradited to the United States, where Phoenix police detectives interviewed him on September 26th. During the interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to killing Paulos. He was subsequently transported to Phoenix on October 15th to face charges of first-degree and second-degree murder.
