A social media personality identified by her online moniker Tea Tyme, Tynesha McCarty Wroten, was arrested on Tuesday for her alleged involvement in the death of Darren Lucas. The 59-year-old victim was fatally struck on November 3rd while walking in Zion, Illinois. Investigations revealed that Wroten, 43, was reportedly livestreaming on TikTok simultaneously while driving at the time of the incident.
Lucas was pronounced dead at a hospital due to blunt force injuries sustained from the collision. Initially, Wroten remained at the scene but later came under scrutiny when a video surfaced, appearing to capture the moment of impact during her livestream. The video showed the user, associated with Wroten, reacting with distress after hearing a loud thud.
Wroten now faces a charge of reckless homicide. Her arrest follows a period where she reportedly solicited donations on Cash App for a "mental leave" shortly after the fatal incident, drawing public criticism. Her family has launched a GoFundMe to support the victim's widow.
